Motorcycle Review
Hayabusa GXS1300R
by Steve

I brought this bike for a joke really. I'd never seen a busa being ridden fast, or used for stunts.

First impressions:
What a fooken piece of lard, but with arm stretching power, brakes that pull into the bar & don't work, & tires that skid when pushed.

INTO the workshop for improvements: First up was Steel brake lines & Full sintered brake pads. Then, traction problems were solved by fitting DUNLOP 209GPs. For the rear I fitted 180/55 which made it steer quicker. (Rear-42PSI/Front-36PSI)

Then to finish it off, suspension was tuned to my style of riding.

NOW we have a serious fast motorcycle, ready to take on anything anywhere.

I USED this bike for 9 months as my every day bike & stunts, clocking over 20,000 ks. It's especially good in rain, as you arrive pretty dry, due to the wide fairing.

Make no mistake, these are fast machines that can be thrown around & ridden hard as the one litre class.

Stoppies:
Any time - Anywhere - Any payload. One handed, two-up or turning. With the brake mods, no more squashed fingers & plenty feel when rolling on balance point.

Burnouts:
Just drop the clutch at 8 then wind on the throttle with a finger on the front brakeĀ… "Holly smoke batman." At shows I've blown a roadworthy tire in less than a minute in 5th gear @ 270K on the Speedo. (It's driven off the front sprocket)

Wheelies:
"Just give me more road." Long & fast goes the bus on the back wheel. It comes up on its own & stays up there through the gears, while the analog Speedo displays a straight to jail 200. Stand up wheelies at 180 are a little sick too.

Out with the boys:
Long sweeping roads are the place to play, but no-one left to play with. Did the others go home? Get into the tight stuff & it's still fun, but more work. While the pegs are too low, my boots ware out the toes on the lean. Thrash this bike from corner to corner, & no-one's getting away. Exiting the turns wide open throttle sees the rear tire leaving blackies everywhere, ripping up a weeks wage in 1500Ks of hard riding.

Fuel consumption:
Sadly I average 11.2 k/litres. Not really economical at all. If it bothers you, get a scoota.

As much as my mates remind me how ugly this bike is, & how it's just not me, I recon it's a good ride.
